Radar: Twin Shadow, Africa Through All The Senses, PWYC Weds with Poor Young Things, Mushy Callahan & Alexander Nicol, Frankie Rose & The Outs, Pass The Butter 33 & 1/3rd

MUSIC | Twin Shadow
Rolling Stone's 'Band of The Week' for October 7th 2010 was Twin Shadow, aka George Lewis Jr, who rolls into the big smoke tonight for an appearance at The 'Shoe. Twin Shadow's debut album "Forget," produced by Chris Taylor from Grizzly Bear, dropped at the end of last year, and has been received very favourably by those who dig this Brooklyn-based artist's synthy 80's-influenced pop sensibilities.
The Horseshoe (370 Queen Street West), 9PM $12

ART | The Patterned Imagination: Africa Through All The Senses
Patricia Bentley will give you the lowdown on all things related to African textiles. There are many cultural relationships that are intertwined in the making of these materials, and they are African Art, Music, Symbolism and more. Expand your horizons on several levels in one visit to the Textile Museum of Canada. Registration required.
Textile Museum of Canada (55 Centre Avenue), 6PM $25 Non-members

MUSIC | PWYC Weds w/ Poor Young Things, Mushy Callahan, Alexander Nicol
Rancho is the place to be tonight if you're looking to check out what is consistently a strong showcase of local and 'breaking' indie rock bands. Tonight's lineup includes Alexander Nicol, who is so fresh that Dan (the guy who put this lineup together), hasn't even heard him yet, but word of mouth is strong regarding this act. Also on the bill are Mushy Callahan, who roll out rock with a mellower, country-tinged vibe, and the headliner is Poor Young Things, recently re-located from Thunder Bay, and ready to rock Hogtown ragged!
Rancho Relaxo (300 College Street), 9PM PWYC

MUSIC | Frankie Rose & The Outs
It's Grrrls night at Parts and Labour!... Headlining tonight's bill is Frankie Rose and The Outs from NYC, described as having influences ranging from Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound teen ballads, to the Velvet Underground and Jesus and Mary Chain. Local band Little Girls with open, and DJ Lillith Ze Davil will spin "girl groups and post punk" to keep your estrogen and adrenaline levels high.
The Shop Under Parts & Labour (1556 Queen Street West), 10PM $8

CLUBS | Pass The Butter 33 & 1/3rd
Vinyl will be spinning all night at Andy Poolhall this eve, with local legend Jason Palma at the helm, with Splattermonkey supporting. If your musical fix includes a mad concoction of funk, jazz, and all things with groove, this is where you should be hanging tonight.
Andy Poolhall (489 College Street), 10PM FREE
