Radar: Broken Social Scene, Women's Arm Wrestling Championship, Craig Cardiff at Site 3, The Unicorn A Gathering of Magic, 401 Richmond Artists Open Studio

MUSIC | Broken Social Scene @ Sound Academy
Let's play a game. How many degrees of separation are there between you and a member of BSS? Most can connect the dots in five. Still enthusiastically on the tour trek, our city's everyman band is playing two back-to-back shows tonight and tomorrow. Rumour has it that the whole family will be in attendance and if that's the case, it'll definitely be worth your while to haul it down to the Sound Academy. They've been hard at work promoting their latest release, Forgiveness Rock and will be welcomed with open arms and hearts on stage tonight.
Sound Academy (11 Polson Street), 8pm $30 advance All Ages

SPORT | Women's Arm Wrestling Championship for Charity *Christmas Edition*
With the rise of such 'outside the box' female sports like roller derby and PFL (Pillow Fight League - yes it's true) it is no shocker to hear that women's arm wrestling is taking off. All ladies are welcome at this event, whether to watch or participate but if you plan to flex your biceps do as the pros do and pick that primo intimidating song to make your entrance with. It's all for fun and all for a great cause - supporting local organizations whose services benefit women and girls. Come one, come all and bring your game face and your posse.
751 (751 Queen Street West), 8pm $2 to wrestle, $3 to watch

MUSIC | Craig Cardiff at Site 3
We are so fortunate to have such a ripe music scene here in Toronto and sometimes the most memorable live shows are the hardest to find. Case in point: Craig Cardiff tonight at Site 3 coLaboratory. This is the inaugural event for Site 3, a member-run workshop enabling art and technology to come together in magical ways. This will be an extremely intimate setting to see one of Canada's talented folk musicians. Cardiff is known for his innovative ways of transforming music using technology and his velvety voice that oozes nostalgia. Tickets won't last long so get them in advance if you can.
Site 3 coLaboratory (718 Ossington Avenue), 9pm $15 advance, $20 door 19+

ART | The Unicorn /// A Gathering of Magic
Narwhal Arts Project, a unique space on Queen West that brings together the talents of artists with diverse backgrounds and influences, is hosting their opening reception of The Unicorn, A Gathering of Magic tonight. The event is in honour of Narwhal joining forces with its sis, Magic Pony and with this they plan on "celebrating the completion of one era and the beginnings of new enchantments." Delightful, no? Why not find out what all the excitement's about at Narwhal tonight and note: this is the art gallery, not the Summerhill boutique.
Narwhal Arts Project (680 Queen Street West) 7-10pm Free

ART | 401 Richmond Artists Open Studio
Opening its doors to the public on a select few special occasions, 401 Richmond has become an arts and culture hub in the city. The building, a beautiful heritage structure at Spadina Avenue, houses a vast array of artists in its many studios, creating a rich and diverse artistic environment. Therefore when an opportunity like this open event arises it is a great way to see so many different art forms, influences and passions come to life in one place. Event will run all both tonight and Saturday and feature 19 artists.
401 Richmond St. West (401 Richmond Street West) 6-10pm Free
