COMEDY | Canadian Comedy Awards
The 11th Canadian Comedy Awards & Festival starts today with a myriad of so-called "comedy shows" across the city. No doubt just 20-something women complaining about the tastiness of chocolate and what they don't like about Ellen Page. "Ya see black people they drive like this ... and white people they drive like this." You know, comedy. Fun times start around 7:30 at Comedy Bar, (Good club, bad reception for solo mobile) and Bad Dog Theatre with the 'mayhem' at Yuk Yuk's commencing at 8. Hope all you professional hecklers don't wear out your embarrassed girlfriends at once though as this is the first of many nights. Pace yourselves.

The event ad asks if you enjoy homemade comics, Psychedelic wall-of-sound space pop and friends. Well never having any real experiences with any of those things I guess that's a real brain buster. Sometimes music helps the brain move along, how bout that? Teen Tits Wild Wives, Rodrigo Wilde, Minus 6 Billion, Blood Rexdale And The Walls Are Blonde ... huh? All playing for part one of a comic/EP release called Thought Aspen? ... Cool!

This sounds awesome: Toronto's finest quarterly gay honkey tonk dance party, assuming there's more than one? I had no idea western culture was so big with gay culture but I guess when thinking back to 'Tombstone' Kurt really does wear that mustache. AND Steers & Queers has been going for over a quarter decade?! Don't settle for the rest when you can have the best, at The Dakota no less. It'll be like the Calgary Stampede but with more studs!

Rachel Shukert is sooooo hot! In fact she is a very pretty lady with a nice fashion sense and looks like she'd be loads of fun at a party or dinner type situation with friends. I wonder if she likes Scene It and classic Simpsons as much as me? She's like a warm wind from the south. (I hear NYC is like a smaller Toronto with better hip-hop) ALSO she's a writer. And a very good writer at that, (according to many critics) with a brand new book out. Well-known Toronto pagemaster Gregory Levey will be having a discussion with Shukert at the delicious Negroni on College. Enjoy an engaging chat with two very smart and youthful writers, mow some grub and wonder why you didn't ask Shukert to marry you when you had the chance. "Sigh" I think I'm going to go call all my ex-girlfriends from high school.
