Radar: Official M.I.A Afterparty, Gary Taxali Launch Party, MothUP, Breathe Owl Breathe & Maylee Todd, Help Promote BIXI Toronto

PARTY | Official M.I.A Afterparty
M.I.A is in town tonight supporting her kind of lackluster "/\/\/\Y/\". She's still an amazing performer though, but unfortunately the show is at the Sound Academy. Anyone with common sense knows it is probably the worst venue in the city and so far out of the way by public transit. A little more central is the Annex Wreckroom, where the official M.I.A afterparty is. Her tour DJ, NGUZUNGUZU, will be spinning plus you get reduced cover if you've got a stub from the show. Maybe M.I.A will even be there!
Annex Wreckroom, 794 Bathurst St, $7, 10pm

ART | Gary Taxali Launch Party
Gary Taxali has got a lot to celebrate tonight. The locally based artist is releasing a ton of new products like t-shirts, cuff links, and wallets all with his signature retro-pop style -- just a little more accessible for the masses. He'll also be signing copies of his new book "This is Silly!" And during all of this, there will of course be a party with original Taxali artwork on display, all happening at the AGO.
AGO, 317 Dundas St W, Free, 6pm-9pm

SPOKEN WORD | MothUP
If you don't get enough of listening to people talk all day at work, you can fill up tonight at the Ossington where the fifth edition of the MothUP series is happening. MothUP is an official sister show of the Moth reading series that takes place in New York and LA. The theme tonight is "Return" so if you have any stories that can relate to that, even loosely, feel free to tell them! As long as its between 5 and 7 minutes, true and not read, anyone can speak. Or you can just go, listen, laugh and cry.
The Ossington, 61 Ossington Ave, Free, 8pm

MUSIC | Breathe Owl Breath and Maylee Todd
Michigan trio Breathe Owl Breathe are stopping by Wrongbar tonight in the midst of their huge North American Tour. Equipped with an acoustic guitar, cello and cracked vocals, this is definitely one of those bands that you haven't really heard until you've heard them live. Also playing is local Maylee Todd who needs no introduction, and The Treasure open.
Wrongbar, 1279 Queen St W, $10, 8pm

COMMUNITY | Help Promote BIXI Toronto
According the the event description, "almost 3 times as many people are Facebook fans of BIXI Toronto than are subscribed" to the program. This represents a bit a of a problem because as of now, BIXI needs 400 more subscribers by the end of November for the bike-sharing program to come to Toronto. So, to modify the adage, actions speak louder than becoming a fan on Facebook.
Centre for Social Innovation, 215 Spadina Avenue, Free, 7-8:30pm.
