MUSIC | Maple Blues Awards
The Toronto Blues Society holds its 13th annual awards ceremony tonight and they couldn't have picked a better venue for it than the Royal Conservatory's Koerner Hall, Toronto's newest acoustically-perfect concert hall. Guitarist David Gogo and bandleader Danny Marks will host the show which will see performances from some of the country's top blues artists including Harry Manx, the Twisters, Paul Reddick and Clio. As of this morning there were still a handful of tickets available, and you might want to contact the Conservatory to ask about their very accommodating rush tickets program.

BOOKS AND LIT | This is Not a Reading Series with Liz Worth and Damian Abraham of Fucked Up
In her new book Treat Me Like Dirt: An Oral History of Punk in Toronto and Beyond, local author and poet Liz Worth chronicles the punk scene that blew up along Queen St. West in the late 1970s. While the punk culture of London and New York is well-documented, Worth's is one of only a handful of books to examine a Toronto scene that included such influential bands as Teenage Head, the Diodes, and the Viletones. The long-lasting impact of that era is evident in the fact that Toronto is still producing bands Fucked Up, whose lead singer Damian "Pink Eye" Abraham will join Worth in conversation tonight.

PARTY | Unveiling #3: Art by Jason Mclean and Mark Delong
New work by visual artists Jason Mclean and Mark Delong will be on display tonight at this art unveiling/auction/party at the Ossington. Based in Vancouver until recently, Mclean lists John Candy and Andy Kaufman as two of his influences, which is no surprise considering the humour and wordplay evident in his work. Delong's work is equally playful and has been shown in galleries from New York to Tokyo, an impressive career considering he is completely self-taught. Their collaboration tonight is inspired by the idea of modern parenting and will be sold off at the end of the night.

FILM | Cinema Politica: Fourth World War
The result of two years of filming within resistance movements on five continents, this political documentary examines the common struggle of the world's disenfranchised peoples. The movie is brought to you by the same team that made anti-globalization screed This is What Democracy Looks Like, so don't expect to hear both sides of the story. But you will see some incredible footage from the front lines of the world's conflicts and hear some provocative ideas for action. Brought to you by activist film group Cinema Politica.

THEATRE | Sing for Your Supper
This event at the Cameron House brings together Toronto's actors and playwrights for a chance to meet each other, exchange ideas, and workshop new material. Tonight several new scripts will be debuted and at the end of the evening the audience will vote on their favourite, with the winner getting a shot at $500. While it is a competition, Sing For Your Supper aims to be a supportive environment where new writers and actors can benefit from supportive feedback, so come out if you're looking to break into the theatre scene but don't quite know where to start.
