FUNDRAISER | Haiti, Je T'Aime
Toronto's entertainment community comes together tonight to raise funds for the rebuilding effort in Haiti. DJ sets from Bedouin Soundclash's Eon, Broken Social Scene's Brendan Canning and k-os will provide the soundtrack to an evening hosted by MTV's Nicole Holness and Aliya-Jasmine Sovani. Other guests include MuchMusic's Sarah Taylor and former VJ Matte Babel. There will also be a silent auction featuring over 50 items including sneakers signed by the entire roster of the Toronto Raptors, jewelry, concert tickets and more. Proceeds will go to Plan Canada, who work to support social justice for children in impoverished countries.

MUSIC | Art and Totalitarianism: A Conversation with Krzysztof Penderecki
One of the most important composers living today, Krzysztof Penderecki grew up in Communist Poland splitting his time between his music and serving time in the army. Despite the rigid constraints in Eastern Bloc society at the time, Penderecki managed to write some of the most groundbreaking and experimental works in the history of classical music. Penderecki comes to the Gardiner Museum tonight to discuss creating art under a totalitarian regime with Canadian composer Norbert Palej.

MUSIC | Eric Roberson at the Mod Club
After nine years and seven albums as an independent artist, New Jersey soul singer Eric Roberson got a huge boost last week when he was nominated for a Grammy for best urban/alternative performance. Not only did the nomination come as a surprising confirmation that some one, somewhere is still using the word "urban" to describe black people, but it's also proof that hard work and talent can pay off. The Grammy nod will only cement his status as an indie soul icon and expect a celebratory atmosphere at the Mod Club courtesy of his die hard fans.

CONFERENCE | Advertising Week
If there's one thing we need more of in our lives it's advertising, am I right? Well like it or not, advertising is what makes the world go around these days so it might not be a bad idea to try to better understand it, especially if you're one of thousands of Torontonians involved in the industry. Advertising Week 2010 aims to celebrate the achievements of Canada's marketing community and encourage dialogue about how advertising relates to important social issues. Highlights of the week include an art and copy screening series, a handful of schmoozefests, and a speakers series featuring Arianna Huffington, pioneering left-wing blogger and creator of the Huffington Post. Runs til January 29.

PARTY | Dirty Bingo
Do not invite your grandmother to this bingo game, no matter how much she likes to play. A long-time favourite of the Church Street crowd, Zelda's famous Dirty Bingo game has been on hiatus while the club relocated but tonight it's back with a vengeance. A sexy vengeance. Prizes will be your usual naughty collection of sex toys and there's a good chance some one will end up stripping to the buff in the infamous X Round. All proceeds go to Casey House, so when you wake up tomorrow and remember what you did last night, take some comfort that it was all for charity.
