CHRISTMAS SERVICE | 20th Annual Christmas Eve Service
Toronto's cathedral of classical music is transformed into a regular cathedral tonight for the Metropolitan Community Church's 20th Annual Christmas Service. The city's diverse communities will join together to celebrate the season with a religious service and the singing of traditional Christmas carols by gospel singer Jackie Richardson, jazz chanteuse Stephanie Martin and Jeigh Madjus. No Jingle Bell Rock here folks. This is for those looking to connect with their religious side this holiday season.
Roy Thomson Hall, 60 Simcoe Street, $25, 10:30 pm

PARTY | Chinese and a Movie
The Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre maintains a Christmas tradition held dear by many Torontonians who aren't of the Christian persuasion: staying in and watching a movie. Golden Chopsticks is providing delicious kosher Chinese Food which you can scarf down while watching JJ Abrams fantastic 2009 Star Trek redux. Somewhere, Captain Kirk and Spock (both Jewish!) are probably having a movie night of their own.
Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre, 750 Spadina Ave., $50, $30 students, Movie only $15

PARTY | Christmas Eve in Clubland
Just because some of us will be having a Silent Night tonight doesn't mean you shouldn't be getting your groove on. There are several parties happening tonight at clubs around the city, including Matzoball 2009 which last year attraced over 1200 clubbers. Just down the street is 1001 Nights Christmas Eve Soiree featuring a whole whack of DJs playing Bollywood, hip hop, R&B and old school dance. Down in the entertainment district the Circus Room spins out Dreidle Rock, an upscale party for the snappily-dressed.
