MEMORIAL CONCERT | Can't Stop Loving You: A Celebration of the Life and Music of Haydain Neale
Friends and fellow musicians come together tonight to celebrate the life of Haydain Neale, who died last month at the age of 39. Most Canadians will remember Neale as the frontman of soul funk group Jacksoul, a determined artist whose career was cut short first by a devastating motorcycle accident in 2007 and finally by lung cancer. Despite his poor health Neale and his band continued to play music in his final months, and completed a new record entitled SOULmate weeks before his death. Luminaries from the music community including Nelly Furtado, k-os, and Divine Brown will pay tribute to Neale and his legendary voice, with all proceeds going to the Haydain Neale Family Trust.

FILM | Films that Move presents: Lemonade
Films that Move is a new film series presented by writer and community organizer Celina Agaton. All films are free and deliver a message of social change. Films that Move isn't just about watching movies though, it gives people with backgrounds in government, community-organization, education, and non-profits an opportunity to come together and create long-lasting partnerships. The first film in the series is Lemonade, a documentary about what happens when ad agency employees fall victim to the recession and are forced to be creative in their own lives for a change.

COMEDY | Monkey Toast: December Edition
Monkey Toast is Toronto's favourite live improvised talk show. The idea goes like this: one member of the Monkey Toast crew interviews a local celebrity onstage, and in between segments comedians improvise skits based on the interview. It's usually pretty funny but this month is special as the regular cast will be joined by world-class improv artist Colin Mochrie. Interviewees include MuchMusic's Trevor Boris and Puppets Who Kill creator John Pattison. Under Monkey Toast's "Pay What You Think" program, you can wait til after the show and pay whatever you think the comedy was worth.

THEATRE | A Very Mamet Xmas
The National Theatre for the World's Impromptu Splendor brings you this evening of improvised theatre in the style of renowned playwright and screenwriter David Mamet. The NTWIS is made up of comedy veterans Naomi Snieckus, Matt Baram, and Ron Pederson. These guys are so good you won't believe that they're making it all up, and while no one knows exactly what will happen the piece is sure to be full of the f-bombs, surging masculinity and dramatic intensity the writer behind Wag the Dog and Glengarry Glen Ross has become known for.

LECTURE | Trampoline Hall
The last Trampoline Hall of 2009 goes down tonight at the Garrison. This will be the third installment of the amateur lecture series at its new digs, having moved from Sneaky Dee's in October. Trampoline Hall has all the intellectual stimulation of an academic lecture but with the added unpredictability that comes with the rule that lecturers must stick to topics they are not experts in. This month's speakers are Lauren Nunziata on the topic of caffeine, Todd Falkowsky on national symbols and the beaver, and Matt Haman on Cursing. Advance tickets go quickly but there are always a few at the door an hour before the show.
