What's open and closed on Boxing Day in Toronto

What's open and closed on boxing day is pretty straightforward, but here's a quick reminder just in case.

Closed

  • The LCBO
  • The Beer Store
  • Quite a few restaurants
  • Banks
  • Government buildings/services

Open

  • The TTC (Sunday Schedule)
  • Shopping Malls (of course!)
  • Grocery Stores
  • Most Wine Rack locations
  • Outdoor ice rinks
  • Museums

Note Well

Because Christmas and Boxing Day occur over the weekend when things like banks and government buildings would be closed anyway, the 27 and 28th will serve as the statutory holidays, but unlike usual, the LCBO, Beer store, malls and grocery stores will be open.

So the moral of the story is to stock up on beer and non-Ontario wine by the 24th, so that you have something to drink when you start watching a Blu-ray on your brand new and surprisingly inexpensive TV. We'll be highlighting some of the better Boxing Day sales in a post to come, so stay tuned.
