New website Dineline aims to offer real-time Toronto restaurant deals


A new website has emerged on the Toronto dining scene, promising spur of the moment deals at restaurants around the city. Dineline.ca claims to render "empty tables and empty stomachs" history, by offering off the cuff deals of 25-50% off at restaurants that could use a few extra bodies. Among the participating restaurants so far are Cafe Diplomatico, Brazen Head and Fred's Not Here.

So far, the site isn't much beyond a glorified Twitter feed -- and one that isn't updated as often as it needs to be to make the project a success -- but the idea is promising. To make it all work, however, it's kind of important that the site actually offer some true "deals." A quick run through of what's been offered so far, however, makes the promised savings highly questionable. Still, should some restaurants start knocking prices to get people in on slow nights, this could be a great way to cut down on the costs of eating out. Here's hoping...
