Toronto Women's Bookstore names new owner

After nearly closing its doors a few months ago, the Toronto Women's Bookstore looks like its back on track.

Victoria Moreno, a former TWB staffer, has been named the store's new owner. Moreno's revitalization plans include creating a cafĂŠ, installing WiFi, and establishing seating in a backyard garden. She also hopes to increase online sales and overhaul the bookstore's website.

Moreno knows she faces an uphill battle, as any independent bookstore owner will attest.

"I am really, really excited to have taken on this project, having made the Toronto Women's Bookstore survive," Moreno said at a sale event in May. "But I will still need all of your support."

The store will be open mid-June, though an official re-launch won't happen until late summer or early fall.
