Giorgio Mammoliti plans include Sky Parks, tolls, Moses

Giorgio Mammoliti, the Toronto Mayoral candidate, revealed his $1.3 billion waterfront plan today, which includes closing the Gardiner to cars and creating a pedestrian park along an old elevated rail corridor.

Transit, cycling, and pedestrian lanes would be created on the Gardiner, which would be open down the centre. Cars would be tolled $2 to enter the city during rush hour using Lake Shore Blvd. and a Front St. extension.

"The Gardiner would open just like Moses opened up the sea," Mammoliti said today at a press conference.

Twelve Sky Parks would also be created, equaling the size of 15 Yonge-Dundas Squares. The plan would be funded through, among other things, $200 million in annual revenue from a floating casino in the Toronto harbour, as well as unicorn rides from Queens Quay to Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Maybe Moses could help with the outstanding morning congestion as well.
