Public pay toilets coming to Toronto

Toronto will very soon have public pay-as-you-go toilets deployed around the city. The first of 20 units has been delivered and installed at the corner of Queens Quay West and Rees Street at Harbourfront, and will be... ahem... active (and hopefully not too smelly) within weeks.

Users will be required to pay $0.25 to use the washroom facilities, which cost $350,000 each and are designed to be self-cleaning. The remaining 19 units, which are part of the City's street furniture deal with advertising giant Astral, will be installed this summer.

More from the National Post.
