Tiffed that you missed TIFF last year? Or just irritated by unnecessary puns in News Flashes? Well, the Toronto International Film Festival has just announced their new year-round showcase will open in September (just in time for TIFF).

The TIFF Bell Lightbox, located at the Reitman Square at the corner of King and John Streets, is set to open its doors fall 2010. The facility will contain five public cinemas, as well as a three-storey atrium, two galleries, three learning studios, a learning centre, staff offices, a bistro, a restaurant and a lounge.

The Bell Lightbox has been 10 years in the making, designed by Toronto-based architecture firm KPMB, which also designed Canada's National Ballet School, the Design Exchange, and the Canadian Embassy in Berlin, among other notable landmarks.

The facility will not only serve as a showcase for Canadian, international and independent cinema both during and after the film festival in September, but also promises to entice students and scholars with galleries, exhibitions, and other events.
