Annex Quartet

Help fund the debut album from the Annex Quartet

Although there aren't as many Toronto-based Kickstarter projects as you'll find in cities of similar size in the US (due mostly to complications related to the site's payment system), it's still worth checking in every once in a while to see what type of stuff people are looking to raise a few bucks for. Recent projects worthy of note have included a human powered helicopter and some pretty cool bike lights. But Kickstarter has also very much become a place where artists, filmmakers and musicians come to seek support for their latest creative endeavours.

Case in point: The Annex Quartet, who's been playing in and around Toronto for five years now is finally making the push to release their debut album. This is one of those groups that's made up of a talented bunch of musicians, but who've still managed to fly under the radar a bit, probably on account of the fact that classical music just doesn't enjoy the following it once did. They're looking for $8000 to fund the Roaring Twenties, an album in which the string quartet celebrates the Jazz Age. Give it a listen.
