WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 15 / DIE MANNEQUIN / SOUND ACADEMY / 11 POLSON ST / $10 / ALL AGES
Female fronted punk rock act, Die Mannequin take over the Sound Academy tonight as part of 102.1 The Edge's Jingle Bell Rock series. While the band has been focused on their most recent release, last year's Fino + Bleed, frontwoman Care Failure stars in Bruce McDonald's new film, Hard Core Logo II, which just premiered at the Whistler Film Festival. This will be Die Mannequin's last hometown show for awhile, as they are off to record a new album in the new year.

THURSDAY DECEMBER 16 / THE RURAL ALBERTA ADVANTAGE / LEE'S PALACE / 529 BLOOR ST W / $15 / 19+
The Rural Alberta Advantage return to Toronto for a sold out show at Lee's Palace on Thursday, looking to finish the year out strong in their hometown. It's been a whirlwind for the RAA since breaking out in the scene in 2009 and the band is all set to continue their success with their new LP Departing, which comes out March 1 in Canada via Paper Bag Records.

FRIDAY DECEMBER 17 / THE FLATLINERS / SNEAKY DEE'S / 431 COLLEGE ST / $15 / 19+
The Flatliners headline a night of punk rock at Sneey Dee's on Friday (and Sunday) in support of their third full-length studio album Cavalcade. Opening up the evening will be Fake Problems from Naples, Florida, the brilliant and underrated, Mezingers, as well as Mockingbird.

SATURDAY DECEMBER 18 / THE DARCYS / SILVER DOLLAR / 486 SPADINA AVE / $7 / 19+
An Untold City presents an evening with up and coming indie darlings, the Darcys, as well as fellow Toronto bands Whale Tooth, Bravestation, and Rival Boys. Talking with the Darcys, I know the band is extremely excited for this show and so am I. It will be the last show I'm personally attending in 2010 and I can't think of a better way to go out, as this line-up is spectacular and all the artists will be looking to make this a special evening.

SUNDAY DECEMBER 19 / THE WOODEN SKY / MUSIC GALLERY / 197 JOHN ST / $25 / ALL AGES
If you missed the homecoming of The Wooden Sky last month, you missed arguably one of the best shows of 2010 (my review here). Luckily, you'll get a chance to see them again Sunday at the Music Gallery with all proceeds going towards the Daily Bread Food Bank, a truly worthy cause especially this time of year. Joining the band for the first of what they hope will become an annual holiday event, will be Strand of Oaks, a phenomenal singer-songwriter from Philadelphia, PA.
