WEDNESDAY APRIL 7 / WOLF PARADE / PHOENIX / 410 SHERBOURNE ST / $20 / 19+
Wolf Parade began mixing their follow-up to 2008's At Mount Zoomer just a few weeks ago and while no release date has been announced, the indie-rock supergroup are heading out on the road for a limited run of shows in Canada and the UK, where fans will presumably get a sneak peek at what's to come in 2010. Rumours are that the album will be titled Expo 86 and will be released by Sub Pop in June or July. Fellow Montréal natives We Are Wolves will open the show tonight, before heading off on the Pop Montréal Pop Off Tour with Parlovr throughout April.

THURSDAY APRIL 8 / AVANT_MUTEK TOUR / THE DRAKE HOTEL / 1150 QUEEN ST W / $10 / 19+
In advance of the eleventh edition of the International Festival of Electronic Music and Digital Creativity (June 2-6 in Montréal), Mutek have set up a cross-continental tour that brings the quintessential Montréal experience across Canada and the US, with the third of nine dates taking place this Thursday night at The Drake Hotel. The tour features headline performances from two of the festival's most longstanding ambassadors - sample-loving house/techno producer Stephen Beaupré and Akufen aka Marc Leclair, who is embarking on his first tour of North America in almost a decade.

THURSDAY APRIL 8 / GHISLAIN POIRIER, BONJAY & LIONESS / WRONGBAR / 1279 QUEEN SW W / $10 / 19+
Toronto-based dancehall duo Bonjay and electro indie-rockers Lioness open up for Poirier at Wrongbar this Thursday night for the Toronto date of the Running High tour, co-presented by Exclaim and Red Bull Music Academy. Montréal DJ/producer Ghislain Poirier is known for bringing his "all things bass" sound to original creations as well as remixes of tracks by artists such as Clipse, Editors, Kid Sister, Lady Sovereign, Bonde Do Role and Champion. The tour serves as a celebration for the release of Running High, which came out last week through Ninja Tune Records.

FRIDAY APRIL 9 / BROTHER ALI / MOD CLUB / 722 COLLEGE ST / $17.50 / 19+
Brother Ali headlines the Breakin' Dawn Tour alongside Fashawn and BK-One, making a stop at the Mod Club on Friday night for an early show (doors 7:30pm). Brother Ali (aka Jason Newman) hails from Minneapolis, Minnesota and is on tour to promote his latest album Us, which features production from his long time collaborator ANT (Atmosphere, Felt). As a rapper, Ali is known for his diverse songwriting content which often touches on the ups and downs of the human condition through the experiences of those around him while maintaining an engaging and through-provoking MC persona.

SATURDAY APRIL 10 / DAPS DUO: GRAND ANALOG, $100, MAYLEE TODD & DOLDRUMS / KAPISANAN PHILLAPPINE CENTRE / 167 AUGUST ST / $7 / ALL AGES
DAPS presents the fifth edition of their all-ages showcases this Saturday at the Kapisanan Philippine Centre, featuring mid-afternoon performances from Doldrums (new project from Airick Woodhead of Spiral Beach), Maylee Todd + Pegwee Power, $100 and Grand Analog. Admission is free for kids 12 and under and the show kicks off at 3:15pm sharp, making this spring celebration a perfect fit for a family outing.

SATURDAY APRIL 10 / FIVE STAR TRAILER PARK / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / $10 / 19+
Five Star Trailer Park emerge from hibernation after a lengthy studio session with a show at the Horseshoe Tavern on Saturday night in celebration of the release of their brand new album Dark As The North Atlantic. Runaway Catholics will open up, with further guests to be announced.

SUNDAY APRIL 11 / BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB / PHOENIX / 410 SHERBOURNE ST / $25 / 19+
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club stepped out on their own in 2008 and launched their own Abstract Dragon record label to release their last two full-lengths - their fully-instrumental 2008 LP The Effect of 333 and 2010's Beat the Devil's Tattoo. In addition to their headlining show at the Phoenix BRMC will play a free in-store set at Sunrise Records (336 Yonge St) at 4pm on Sunday, bringing their total to three Toronto shows in a seven-day span.

MONDAY APRIL 12 / PISSED JEANS & METZ / HORSESHOE TAVERN / 368 QUEEN ST W / $12 / 19+
Allentown, PA quartet Pissed Jeans bring their grunge punk sound to the Horseshoe in support of King of Jeans, their third release and second for Sub Pop Records, which sees the group coming to an uneasy acceptance of adulthood without compromising their downtrodden and often apathetic lyrics and visceral sound. Local trio Metz will open up.

TUESDAY APRIL 13 / CASPIAN with ARMS & SLEEPERS / RANCHO RELAXO / 300 COLLEGE ST / $10 / 19+
Instrumental post-rock quintet Caspian will stop by Rancho Relaxo for a night of sprawling atmospheric experimentation in support of their sophomore album Tertia, which received rave reviews after being released for free download late last year (though only for a limited period of time). Ambient trip-hop duo Arms & Sleepers and unsigned local rockers Kosmograd will kick things off.
