Gallagher's VFest Attacker Pleads Guilty to Assault
Remember back in September 2008 when an enraged and severely intoxicated Daniel Sullivan singlehandedly ruined the finale of VFest by attacking Noel Gallagher from behind, sending him falling forward and breaking three of his ribs? The 48-year-old Pickering native has plead guilty to assault causing bodily harm, and awaits sentencing on February 5. Gallagher, who recently quit Oasis, supposedly took eight months to recover from his injuries.

The Roman Line
Today marks the official release of Morning Portraits, the debut full-length from local punk rockers the Roman Line. You can stream the album over at Punknews.org, and they'll be celebrating the release with a show at Rancho Relaxo on Sunday night alongside Junior Battles, O Pioneers!!! and Shared Arms. Spinner Count Down Top Ten Canadian Songs of 2009
Spinner offered up their choices for the best Canadian songs of 2009, a list loaded with Toronto artists including Drake, K'Naan, k-os and Great Lake Swimmers. Topping the chart? Metric's 'Help I'm Alive.' While they state that these songs share an "innate greatness" that will keep them "in playlists for the next year, if not decade", I'm going to have to disagree.

Ian Blurton Self-Releases Solo Debut
C'mon frontman Ian Blurton has enjoyed an illustrious career since moving to Toronto from Chicago in the 70s. He's played with Cowboy Junkies, fronted multiple bands (most recently C'mon) and produced albums for a diverse mix of Canadian artists including The Weakerthans, Cursed and Amy Millan. Blurton is weighing options for a wider release, so you'll have to head to one of his upcoming shows if you want to hear it anytime soon. Happy Endings features appearances from a slew of guest contributors, including Broken Social Scene's Kevin Drew.
