Daniel, Fred & Julie
Over a two day session earlier this year, Fred Squire (Shotgun & Jaybird), Julie Doiron and Daniel Romano (Attack in Black) got together and recorded eight folk standards and two Romano originals. The songs have been compiled by You've Changed Records and will be released under the moniker Daniel, Fred & Julie on December 1st. For a preview, have a listen to one of the original tracks, 'Runner' (MP3). The album was recorded live to tape, and made solely with two guitars and three-part harmonies.

Blue Rodeo
Canadian legends Blue Rodeo will be hosting a street party this afternoon at 2:30pm (Tuesday, November 10) at the Diesel Playhouse. They'll be joined by Julie Fader and Cuff the Duke's Wayne Petti. What's the occasion? They're heading out on tour in support of their brand new album Things We Left Behind, a two-disc set hitting shelves and iTunes today.

Grand Analog - Take It Slow

Fucked Up Spend Their Polaris Winnings
Less than a week after the mayhem that was Fucked Up Fest 2009, Fucked Up's Damian Abraham announced the details of their forthcoming charity single. They'll be covering Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas' with the aid of Broken Social Scene, David Cross, Vampire Weekend, TV on the Radio, No Age, Yo La Tengo and potentially M.I.A., Jarvis Cocker and Feist. Fucked Up's star-studded holiday single will raise funds for missing and murdered aboriginal women in Canada.

Rolly's Garage
Rolly's need your help to win a chunk of the Aviva Community Fund competition. The Ossington auto-mechanic garage turned art venue requires roughly $100,000 worth of renovations to legally re-open. Should they be granted the funding, Rolly's will open a new gallery boutique section in the garage. Visit Aviva now and often to vote and help save a grassroots venue from staying under.

HMV Canada Launch Digital Store
After expanding to sell books, games and merchandise, entertainment retail giant HMV continue to adapt to the rapidly shifting musical climate with the recent launch of hmvdigital.ca. The site offers millions of DRM-free MP3s, as well as a personal download section that functions as a digital back-up. The official launch will be sometime in 2010, but beta users that sign up now will receive a two-for-one offer on the first ten songs purchased.

Elliott Brood Live From Austin, Texas

Six Shooter Records
Last week Tim noticed that Six Shooter Records (home to NQ Arbuckle, Elliott Brood, Luke Doucet and many more) had closed up shop at their retail outlet and offices in Leslieville. Thankfully it's not deadpool for the label - they've simply moved to a more convenient downtown location at Queen and Spadina.

Hostage Life Break-Up
Just a few weeks after the free digital release of Center of the Universe (ZIP/MP3), Hostage Life announced their break-up via "an intentionally vague post regarding the dissolution" of the band. On November 20, they'll be playing one final show at Sneaky Dee's - just three days after the physical release of their new album.

The Most Serene Republic - Heavens to Purgatory

$100
Deranged Records recently released One Hundred Dollars' latest instalment in their ongoing Regional Seven-Inch Series. The alt-country collective are treating each release as an opportunity to profile a Canadian city while addressing pressing social issues ranging from cancer hospitals in Toronto to a slum owner on Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
