Yelle

Yelle with TEPR and Grand Marnier at the Opera House

Yelle is coming to town and she is bringing all the crew with her. On Wednesday April 30th, A.P.E presents Yelle at the Opera House, with TEPR and Grand Marnier, locals Vitamins for You, DJ Vaneska AND Tektonik Dancers in full effect.

The first time I heard Yelle's Je Veux te Voir I fell in love with it. I couldn't get the song out of my head and I knew this French girl would make it big.

The original version of this single brought Yelle and producer Grand Marnier much attention and controversy via her mySpace as fans of Cuizinier, a member of the Parisian hip-hop group TTC, reacted to her dissing him in an explicit, albeit humorous, way. (The title of the song in English was Short Dick Cuizi)

Yelle has gotten plenty of remix treatment including a few by frequent collaborator TEPR.

Check out my favourite Yelle remix so far by Nixon Pelletier. It's a good mashing of ACDG with 80's "Obsession" by Animotion.

Last time Yelle was in Toronto she played to a full capacity crowd at the Drake and it got completely out of control.
