Sport Pig in Toronto

SPORT PIG @ The DeLeon White Gallery

Parties: they're all over the city. Sometimes there are so many parties that you have to end up choosing the one that's just right for you. It's sort of like making up your mind when looking for a particular brand of potato chips. As funny as that sounds, SPORT PIG offers all the brands and all the flavors all jam-packed into one, air-tight bag of deliciousness.

On Thursday evening, SPORT PIG, ran by two party-crazy girls named Anna Von Frances & Michaela Eva Peker (aka. Pink Mafia), had their 1-year anniversary party at the DeLeon White Gallery (Queen & Dovercourt). The gallery sported 3 floors of white walls covered in art from every angle, including a roof-top patio. Thankfully, the weather was perfect for the occasion as the patio was packed through out the night. To have a drink, a corn-on-the-cob, a slice of watermelon and to lean up against the ledge to view the city from a fine angle couldn't have been any better.

DJ's were spinning on the main level and on the roof-top patio all night. Amongst some big names such as George from ALEXISONFIRE and Eon & Jay from Bedouin Soundclash, resident kick-ass lappy DJ's Jeff & Adam (aka. Famous Playa$), were probably the most entertaining spectacle of the evening. Using a clever mix of mashed-up beats, fun tunes and non-stop beats, the Playa$ ruled the main floor for the entire time they were on. At times, they would jump out to the audience, clapping hands and singing along, trying to share their fun with everyone. Thankfully, Famous Playa$ are resident DJs, which means you'll definitely get to hear them at the next SPORT PIG.

SPORT PIG is not a party that will just come and go. Although Anna & Michaela say that it's "just an excuse to get drunk with friends", they both manage to find ways to make the night memorable.
