A Bunch of Dudes Called The Ludes!

On Saturday April 30th you should go to the Horseshoe Tavern and listen to some dudes play some pretty nifty music. They're called The Ludes and they make good sounds that make you chuckle and wiggle. Their live show is sort of like being in a hot air balloon watching fireworks while enjoying a snifter of brandy. It's decadent and moving.

I asked Tim Beresford (the band's leading lady) for some kind words about himself and their music. Guest writing spot by Tim Beresford follows:

The Ludes are not trying to reinvent the wheel; we're just trying to tame the unemployed sabre-toothed tiger that is our potential. We grew up in a farming region and have been playing together for many years. With the addition of Nick Den Boer (a seasoned dairy farmer and electrician) we grabbed the metaphorical scrotum of the as of yet untamed taradactyl by touring Canada and the U.S. in our bus, "

The Razor Horse".

The idea our band thrives on is one of being self sufficient. In our bus we are able to go anywhere at a moments notice, park illegally and assume squatters rights until the show has been played.

It is unlikely that you will see the band bickering over our art-scarves. We are poor, grubby weirdos, who are only concerned with playing music. "We really would have rather done something else with our lives, it would have been easier" says Michael Purves-Smith (lead guitarist), "but we have been given a very special gift and with that gift comes the obligation of doing something spectacular for the sake of others."

The kind of music we play could best be described as good. When you hear the sounds we make, you feel as if something right is happening. What more can you hope for? The Ludes are a truly radical band, and rad is the new cool.
