Brampton needs an Indie Arts Festival...

...and so Friendly Rich has given them one. Or several. He's been putting on the Brampton Indie Arts Festival since 2000 and has attracted a load of attention for it.

This year the festival will include a zine fair sponsored by Broken Pencil Magazine, and since I was an enthusiastic participant in 2004's Canzine event at the Gladstone Hotel, I've been offered a table at the Brampton Zine Fair to sell my wares. The table also comes with a free pass for the night's entertainment so I'm very excited because Knock Knock. (Who's There?) Comedy!will be hosting!

The Singing Saw Shadow Show and Sook-yin Lee will be performing music that night, as well as Aidan Baker, The Lollipop People, and The Phonemes, but I don't know those folks so I can only be excited about hearing something new.

There will also be films screened, so it sounds like an all around great time. I'll be sure to keep detailed notes and you'll hear all about it when I get back.

Ain't it fun when Suburbanites get sick of having to come to Toronto for all the cool stuff? I've been to Hillsideand Track and Fieldout near Guelph and everyone just seems so excited to have something interesting happening. Well, me too.
