It seems like three chunks in a month is enough for the keepers of the Gardiner expressway - city crews began a month-long inspection yesterday to identify and safely remove any loose concrete. Some lanes of traffic and pedestrian walkways below the elevated highway could be closed if anything dangerous turns up. Should we be taking these incidents as a sign the nearly sixty-year-old yet "perfectly safe" road should be replaced?

Construction is underway on Toronto's first new streetcar lane in over a decade on Cherry Street. When the first phase is complete in 2015, the line will provide the new West Don Lands development and historic Distillery District with access to public transit. Waterfront Toronto is planning an extension south of the Gardiner to the Port Lands and is also aiming for an LRT along Lake Shore Boulevard--but funding might not permit it. Good luck getting that LRT anywhere near downtown proper.

If there's one thing this area is lacking, it's a tourist attraction devoted to small, plastic bricks. But, no longer! The GTA will get its own Lego play area at Vaughan Mills shopping centre next spring, where kids between the ages of three and ten will be able to build models, watch movies, and enjoy rides. This whole thing actually sounds pretty decent - shame about the age restriction.

The Real Jerk is throwing a going away party this Saturday to say farewell to the Riverside neighborhood and the Queen and Broadview location that the Caribbean restaurant made famous. Doors open at 7pm and you can get updates on the event via the company's mailing list. Rising rent costs and a dispute with the landlord forced the Real Jerk to find a new, as yet undisclosed location to serve its famous roti.

The Globe and Mail has done some digging into the video we posted on Monday of a newlywed couple having photographs taken in the middle of Yonge-Dundas Square. Turns out Julie and Shiran Isaacsz rehearsed the stunt nearby before daring to venture out into the busy intersection with their leather couch.
