Morning Brew: Panel to recommend LRT for Sheppard, Ford prefers his own polling method, TO's white-washed food craze, and Leafs finally win one (so what?)

In a report that will be made public today, an expert transit panel will overwhelmingly support light rail transit over a subway for Sheppard Avenue.

But, of course, Rob Ford isn't buying it. Even though panel members used thorough analysis to rank each of the three options, Ford said yesterday, "The advisory panel is a biased panel, we all know that, we know what they're going to say," going onto add that, on his way to his pro-subway event, "I didn't meet one person that came up to me and said they want streetcars, LRT, above-ground transit. They want subways."

Navneet Alang has an interesting piece over at the Toronto Standard that discusses the city's food/restaurant craze. Sure, we have a lot to pick from these days, but in the end, it's mostly "white food" with only a bit of multicultural fare thrown in for good measure. Discuss.

Here's another blow to Canada's theatre community. The prestigious Siminovitch Prize, a $100,000 which has honoured theatre professionals in a variety of disciplines since 2001, is no more. The prize was created to honour noted Canadian medical scientist Lou Siminovitch and his wife, Elinore, a Toronto playwright who died in 1995. The Canada Council for the Arts gave no reason for the award's termination but it's probably because theatre artists make way too much money as it is.

Toronto Police Services want parents to know that kids shouldn't spend their precious playing time calling 911 to check up on them so they released this video:
