Morning Brew: No money for Sheppard subway study, Harper in town to announce funding for Island airport tunnel, Toronto house sells for $421,800 over asking
This just doesn't bode well for Sheppard subway supporters. The Gordon Chong-led study of funding options for an extension to the Sheppard line ran out of money — last October! Chong and other consultants are owed more than $100,000, though it's unlikely they'll recoup the money. What a mess.
But hey, at least Rob Ford is getting some sort of tunnel. This morning Prime Minister Stephen Harper will join Ford at the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport where it's expected Harper will announce federal funding for the pedestrian tunnel linking the island airport to the mainland. So catch the shortest-ferry-ride-ever while you still can.
