According to city councillors, the Toronto Zoo and its keepers are endangering the health of the zoo's three remaining elephants by stalling their transfer to their new home in California. Though apparently the elephants could have been out by Christmas, according to Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker, the zoo is sabotaging their efforts. The union representing the zoo staff deny the accusations, but the keepers, for their part, say they look after the elephants, so they should decide where the pachyderms should go.

This one's worth it just for the photo. The mayor made his guest debut in the Nutcracker on Saturday afternoon, and by all accounts, it was a smashing success. Perhaps a career change is in order?

Toronto Centre MPP Glen Murray is worried about the direction that the Port Lands development is taking. He fears that accelerated development might lower land values in the area. "We want to sell the land after we put transit and parks and schools in there, he told the Globe. "If you get the sequencing wrong, you'll end up selling the land for cheap." Waterfront Toronto is hosting an open house at the Toronto Reference Library tonight in an effort to solicit public feedback and ideas to speed up development.

Though it was at a smaller venue this time around, the UFC's second ever visit to Toronto proved that size doesn't matter — or in this case, it matters a lot — as UFC 140 was the second mosot attended UFC event in 2011. But being second best isn't anything to be disappointed about when the biggest audience ever this year was UFC's first event here back in April. At just eight months apart, both events sold nearly 74,000 tickets combined and raked in a whopping $15 million.

Women, beware. A man who is pretending to be asleep on subway trains is actually groping women. He's believed to have assaulted at least two women on two separate occasions on the Bloor-Danforth line. Police have released his picture in hopes of catching the perv.
