Morning Brew: Is Rob Ford waging a war on children?, del Grande wants to save school programs, RIM executives chewed their way out of restraints, Leafs fans comment on new owners, and Ontario Liberals are messing with Mother Nature

Is Rob Ford guilty of cutting the services children most rely on? The Grid calls out Ford for his "war on children" — or at least on the ones who aren't rich. He's killed the Christmas bureau (which gives gifts to needy kids), has tabled putting an end to their nutrition programs, closing their swimming pools, petting zoos, and reducing ice time at arenas. And then of course there's the dwindling day care spots. I thought the children were our future?

Well, the children may have found their saviour in councillor and budget chief Mike del Grande, who happens to be a former school board trustee. Del Grande says he's searching for other ways to cut costs so the city can continue to support school programs, like the aforementioned nutrition program. Before the budget committee meets again (twice before the holiday break and again in January), del Grande says he'll work to get approval for his changes from the committee.

Damn! How much did these guys have to drink? Apparently a lot. CBC reveals new details about those two rowdy RIM executives who were fired after causing disruption on an Air Canada flight from Toronto to Beijing last week. Seems that they managed to chew their way out of restraints after being handcuffed by crew members, which was of course after they verbally abused the whole plane and assaulted a flight attendant. I mean, I know times are tough at RIM, but really?

It may be a big score for Bell and Rogers, but some fans don't seem to dig the Leafs' new co-owners. Many diehard fans fear the new sale will mean putting more games on the subscription-based channel, Leafs TV, and that more games will cost money to watch on TV. However, some fans believe the joint exposure will translate into reeling in more top players, which, in turn, will lead to a Stanley Cup. Well, we can dream, can't we?
