Morning Brew: The marathon "wars," a look at past relationships between Toronto's Mayor and the Premier, the official Maple Leafs photographer, HMV isn't dead yet, NBA cancels first two weeks of season

Off to the races? Not quite. More marathon "wars" are breaking out in Toronto as the city tries to deal with the stresses of traffic disruption and the needs of long distance runners. There's been a shuffling of dates with popular events, such as Sporting Life's 10K run, much to the chagrin of the store's owners who blame Alan Brookes, the head of the Canada Running Series. Brookes happens to have his own 10K race schedule a couple of weeks beforehand, using Sporting Life's exact route. Now Sporting Life wants his race to be cancelled. Maybe these races would be better off in parks, after all.

Now that the Ontario election campaign is over and we've been assured Rob Ford didn't endorse any candidate and that he's pleased with the Liberal's new minority government (or something like that), the Post looks back at past relationships between our mayor and premier. They haven't all been that warm and fuzzy. Like, at all. Remember Mel Lastman and Mike Harris?

If you ever wanted to know who takes those cool Maple Leaf action shots, look no further than Greg Abel. He's been the Leafs' official photographer for 35 years. He's only missed a handful of home games since 1977 and was once hit between the eyes by a flying puck, but he's kept on shooting. Mainly because he has yet to take a shot of the Leafs with the Stanley Cup.

HMV might not be dead after all. The music and movie retailer says its sales are up since, you know, it slashed their prices. The chain is also looking into filling the rental video gap left by Blockbuster Canada and is also considering what would be Canada's first subscription-based digital music service, where you'd pay a flat monthly fee instead of paying per music track.
