Morning Brew: Ford accepts Pan Am Games flag in Mexico, Toronto's scariest house, overdose kits hit the streets, explosives found in the Amazing Party Store, sexy TO-themed Halloween costume ideas, and Leafs downed by Senators

Surprise! He made it. After much debate whether or not he would actually show, Rob Ford ended up accepting the Pan Am Games flag at the closing ceremonies in Guadalajara, Mexico yesterday. Also during the closing ceremonies, the Toronto organizing committee, which had about two dozen officials in Mexico, had an eight-minute publicity opp to pitch Toronto to the world and how spectacular its Pan Am Games will be. Now if only they could only get the city itself on board.

It's finally Halloween tonight (doesn't it feel like it's already over somehow?). If you're still up for getting your spook on, then you might want to mosey on down to the old Lakeshore Psychiatric Centre, otherwise known as Toronto's scariest haunted house. There's both real and fake ghosts there, so it's, like, really scary. For a history of the building, check out our previous article about it.

Looks like the Amazing Party Store tried to be a little too amazing for its own good. At least two "explosives" were found inside the store over the weekend, prompting the city's bomb squad, canine unit, and the Emergency Task Force to come up with a motive. One explosive included an egg timer, so maybe they just really wanted their eggs cooked on time.

Toronto Public Health officials began handing out anti-overdose kits to drug users a few weeks ago, and they are apparently already saving lives. The kits include injection syringes and two doses of naloxone, which can reverse the effects of an opiate overdose.

Still stumped for your Halloween costume? Well, if love Toronto and you think Halloween is an excuse to dress sexy, then OpenFile has some pretty sexy Toronto-centric ideas, like: The Sexy 911 Call Tape, sexy Giorgio Mammoliti or maybe sexy KPMG report.
