Rob Ford is scheduled to meet with Dalton McGuinty today and rumour has it he's going to ask the premier for a hand-out to kick-start the subway's expansion. The meeting will no doubt be interesting, considering Ford said back in March that if the provincial government didn't agree to his request of $150-million, he was going to sic Ford Nation on it. McGuinty, though, seems to have the upper-hand this time around: his Liberals are narrowing the gap in the polls with the Tories, and Ford's not as popular as he was back in the spring, thanks to those city service reviews.

One wonders if the Premier and Mayor will also discuss the nurses that have been offered to the City of Toronto at the province's expense. Back in June and July, Ford and his council allies voted to turn down an offer of two free nurses on the grounds that eventually the City would have to pick up their salaries when provincial funding ran out (note: health minister Deb Matthews indicated the funding would be long term). Well, McGuinty is back at it, offering three more nurses, which the City's budget committee will vote on next Tuesday. What are the odds that they do an about face?

I guess we can expect regular incidents of glass falling from Toronto buildings after a glass balcony shattered from a condo at Bloor and Bedford Road yesterday, one day after falling glass from another building injured a woman. Don't expect this mystery of the falling glass being solved anytime soon - building inspectors and balcony-makers still aren't sure what's causing the glass to fall, but it's most likely due to defective glass.

Apparently weird fried food isn't the only scary thing at the CNE; there are also ghosts and spirits creeping around, if you believe in that sort of thing. According to Richard Palmisano, a paranormal investigator (or better, a real-life Ghostbuster), claims there's a few ghosts that call the CNE home, like Jenny, the little girl ghost, and Michael, the ghost who guards the building.
