Morning Brew: The Brick Works ranked one of the top public spaces in Canada, OPP launch texting and driving blitz, more on Ford's election expenses, and you can camp out with the Jays this weekend
Toronto's Evergreen Brick Works has been selected as one of the top places in Canada, as part of a four-month selection process sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Planners. The former brick quarry and manufacturing facility beat out almost 6,000 nominations from across the country, placing in the top three in the great public space category.
Do you text and chat while driving? Well, shame on you! But if you can't stop that dangerous habit, at least be on the lookout this week as the OPP are targeting you. Yes, you. This week marks the first of four OPP one-week enforcement campaigns focusing on distracted driving over the next 12 months. Distracted driving is part of the "big four" casual factors for death and injuries. The fine for driving while using a handheld device? $150.
This week's political panel over at the National Post discusses the recently announced audit of Rob Ford's campaign financing and the mixed signals Ford's bee sending out about it. Initially, Ford was defiant and almost welcomed an audit. Then when it was ordered, his lawyer hasn't ruled out asking for dismissal. What gives?
