Morning Brew: Planned Fort York bridge suspended, U of T wants high school property back, , Ontario Place is free all summer, the UFC is in town, and you can drink like a Royal in Canada

The gorgeous pedestrian and cycling bridge to Fort York that was considered to be vital to the waterfront redevelopment has been suddenly sent back for review over its inflated cost. The S-shaped bridge was expected to cost $18-million but the lowest bid came in at $22.4-million and requires review from the public works and infrastructure committee. Trinity-Spadina Councillor Mike Layton, in whose ward the bridge would be located, was apparently shocked at the decision. He said sending it back to staff will "delay it indefinitely, if not kill it entirely."

The University of Toronto wants to send its gifted high school students packing. It owns the site on Bloor Street where U of T Schools is located and is refusing their proposal for a $48-million refurbishment of the aging building. Instead it gave UTS until 2021 to find a new space. The university doesn't know what they want to do with the property yet but it will probably have something to do with redevelopment of their downtown campus. The two similarly-named schools have had a special partnership since the inception of UTS in 1910. So much for loyalty.

This ain't news, but everyone seems to be talking about it. Krista Ford, the tow-headed niece of Mayor Rob Ford and daughter of Councillor Doug Ford, is planning to try out for the upcoming Lingerie Football League. She says she likes to "crash into people" and doesn't mind the skimpy outfits because she basically plays all sports in bikinis. Apparently Doug Ford's first reaction was: "Oh boy -- I knew it was trouble." Who else just got a flash for a "Father Knows Best" reality show with this family?

And there's also this new sport coming to Toronto, if you haven't heard. UFC holds its first Toronto event to a record-setting crowd Saturday and in preparation for the big skull-breaking event, this week's EYE takes us behind the scenes at SpikeTV's reality series, "The Ultimate Fighter."
