Ontario's ombudsman AndrĂŠ Marin says he has finished his investigation into the so-called "secret law" passed prior to the G20 in Toronto. The news of the important update broke via Twitter Saturday night, where Marin said a report would be sent to the provincial government within 10 days and made public once finalized. Marin has spent the last 90 days looking into a regulation passed by the Ontario cabinet on June 2, which many believed to give police power to arrest anyone refusing to provide identification within five metres of the security fence. Turns out that was a sham, and part of Marin's investigation includes why no one set the record straight.

Anthony Bennett, the man involved in the high-profile assault and confinement case involving Chinatown grocer David Chen, was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing plants from a shop in Chinatown. Bennett, who was tied up by Chen and his brother back in May after he was caught stealing from Chen's store, admitted during trial last week that he had indeed shoplifted from the Chinatown grocer. He was arrested Friday for theft allegations dating back to the spring and is to appear in court Wednesday for five charges of theft under $5000. Why has it taken so long? "Sometimes minor investigations sit for a while," said Toronto Police Detective Henry Dyck.

Toronto's very own Truman Show seems to be a hit. Mark, aka. The Guy at Home in His Underwear, in now in day 6 of 25 of lounging around in his boxers while on camera in support of testicular cancer awareness. Mark, who is a cancer survivor himself, has almost 18,000 "likes" on Facebook, on his way to 25,000 when Stanfield's Canada will donate $25,000 to the Canadian Cancer Society in support of testicular cancer research. "It's been gangbusters, the support that we've got," Mark told the Toronto Sun yesterday. "It's been surprising and overwhelming. For me, it's just getting used to this world of living in a fishbowl and having everything you do be meaningful to people." I, for one, can't wait to see what Mark will have for breakfast today.

Twenty-nine-year-old Salma Arbach was named bubble gum queen at a blow-off at the Eaton Centre on Saturday. Hundreds of people participated in the Bazooka Joe Bubble Gum Blow-Off contest to see who could blow the biggest bubble, and Arbach took the top spot with her 19-cm wide bubble. She won 3,000 pieces of Bazooka Joe gum and the chance to be drawn in one its comics. Such is news on Thanksgiving weekend.

Twenty-one couples tied the knot in Toronto yesterday, hoping for a little extra nuptial luck from the 10-10-10 on the calendar. At the very least, it'll be harder for them to forget their anniversaries.

This Thanksgiving will be a mournful one for two Regent Park families, as two teens were attacked and killed in an apartment early Saturday morning. Sealand White, 15, and Jermaine Derby, 19, were gunned down after leaving a party just after 2 a.m. and died shortly thereafter. Police are looking for witnesses.
