An amazing if troublesome set of events took place near the 401 and DVP last night when a woman fell from a balcony on the 11th floor of a high-rise apartment. Believed to be in her 20s, the woman's fall was broken by a large satellite dish, which is thought to have saved her life. According the Sun's report, police allege that she was actually thrown off the balcony by a man they now have in custody. They were in the midst of responding to a gun complaint at the apartment building in question when the event took place. The women is in critical condition.

Three Toronto restrooms have been shortlisted for the mantle of best crapper in Canada via a contest organized by Cintas. I'm not so enamored with the facilities at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, but those at the Spice Route and Mildred's Temple Kitchen certainly seem worthy. Surprisingly, casting a vote is relatively painless and requires no disclosure of personal info.

An unnamed source quoted in the Star has John Tory "strongly leaning" toward not entering the mayoral race (once again). It's really time to figure it out, one way or another, isn't it John? If you do decide to join the race, all we're going to hear from your competitors is about how indecisive you are, and that already has me yawning.

For the second time in six months, a Toronto-based marijuana compassion club has been raided by police. Acting on what they referred to as a "community complaint," officers seized an unspecified quantity of drugs (weed and hash) and arrested the club's owner, Neev Tapiero. The last time the club was raided it was allowed to re-open due to the difficulties chronically ill patients face in acquiring medical marijuana. And though it's not really news, I feel compelled to share that I took a trip to Barrie last night in the hopes of seeing the Northern Lights, only to find that geomagnetic activity died out shortly after the sunset, ending any hopes of seeing the lights. A search of the hashtag #northernlights on Twitter reveals that I wasn't the only one who was disappointed.
