The TTC is calling on the public for feedback on the design proposals for a streetcar facility to be built near Ashbridge's Bay (yes, that should have an apostrophe). Along with hosting an open house yesterday afternoon (another one is scheduled for Tuesday between 4 and 8 p.m.), those interested can view the proposals and provide comment online. Feedback must be submitted by August 23, at which time an independent panel of jurors will review the various submissions.

Case in point: a parent of a player on the North Scarborough Soccer Club's under-13 team (the Bulldogs) allegedly threatened an assistant referee with a gun after a controversial 1-0 loss to the Aurora Stingers. While the team denies that such an incident took place -- calling it "propaganda" -- the league and parents are obviously quite concerned. Since the report of the altercation back on July 12, the York Region Soccer Association has refused to send officials to ref Bulldogs games.

The Blue Jays Brandon Morrow came heartbreakingly close to a no-hitter yesterday, taking his hit-free record and 17 strikeouts into the ninth inning before Tampa Bay's Evan Longoria singled into the hole between first and second base.
