Still in the race, Sarah Thomson has released her environmental plan for Toronto. Some highlights include the introduction of hybrid taxis, improving the way that trees are planted in urban areas and encouraging Toronto Hydro to institute an incentive program for homeowners to install solar panels. Seems a little thin, no?

The price tag for the Nathan Phillips Square revitalization project will cost an additional $5 million should it pass through a city budget committee next week. The (completely reasonable) increase is the result of plans to add a parking garage and a indoor bike station. With regard to the latter, the station will accommodate 380 bikes and offer the possibility to rent "parking plans." Personal lockers, shower facilities and basic tools will also be available.

Conrad Black has dropped his bid to return to Canada. Refusing to disclose all of his financial information to Judge Amy St. Eve -- which was a pre-condition of her granting the former media baron the right to travel to Canada -- he'll have to remain in the U.S. until his next scheduled court appearance on September 20. Black's refusal to reveal his financial affairs is likely a preventive measure against the threat of prosecutors attempting to revoke his bail.
