Even really bad people deserve (or at least get) second chances. Ashley Kirilow, the girl who faked cancer and swindled over $20,000 with her charity, Change For A Cure, has been bailed out by the John Howard Society. Earlier in the week, Bob Muck, a man with face full of tattoos expressed an interest in posting her bail, but he was a no-show in court. What was going on there? Publicity stunt?

Rob Ford will not be receiving any sympathy this week. It's been a long week of red flags for Ford (who allegedly has driven under the influence, smoked pot, roughed up a former football player he was coaching, and pushed a dog around by it's hind legs like a vacuum cleaner), and it's not looking any brighter next week. The portly politician intends to sue the Toronto Star for libel. The Star, however, ran an article this morning titled "Why I support Rob Ford." Are they trying to curry favour to make the Ford team reconsider, or practicing quality, disinterested journalism? You be the judge...

Depressing. Tamara Broomfield of Scarborough spent the last year or so feeding her toddler, Malique, cocaine because, well, it's part of every healthy toddler's diet, right? Her son suffered permanent brain damage that will require him to depend on others for the rest of his life. Broomfield will spend almost six years in prison for various crimes against the child including the repeated incidents involving cocaine and failing to seek medical attention when he broke his arm. This is just too sad to justify a witty summary remark.

Bird news! Tiffany the Macaw has been brought to police safe and sound. The parrot was allegedly scooped up by two men on Wednesday evening who claimed they were going to give her some food and water after she escaped from a nearby backyard. An investigation will ensue but, at present, there are no charges of... bird-napping to report.

The TTC is closing in on a deal that will see them get a new Transit museum and headquarters. Let's leave the commenting on this to Furious George: "I especially oppose any further spending towards a museum. It's clear to all of us that ride the TTC that [the transit system] is museum enough..." The other candidates don't seem to mind the plan as much, so long as it saves the Commission money.
