Will there be a protest in advance of the G20 meetings, to protest the designation of Trinity Bellwoods Park an official protest zone during the G20 meetings? Setting up a meeting place far from the leaders' location is something that has been done before (London), and it likely will have the desired effect (keeping the protests far from the leaders' location). But does choosing a community park used by families and dogs and surrounded by residential neighbourhoods make for a wise decision?

Apparently a vote for mayoral candidate Rob Ford is a vote against expanding our transit system by building more unwanted LRTs. Ford wants subways (don't we all?) and while he hasn't revealed plans proper to fund subway expansion, he has suggested that selling air rights above stations to developers would be a way to drum up funds. The problem is, we can't even get enough cash to build an LRT network, and building a subway line costs five to six times more than LRT expansion (on a per kilometer basis).

It's going to be a super hot summer when Victoria's Secret finally comes to Toronto. The popular lingerie retailer will be opening shop at Yorkdale mall in late August, as well as a location at Mississauga's Square One in early September, followed by one at the Eaton Centre. Garter belts will be the new shorts (one can dream, right?).

Stunt BMX is the new skateboarding, and the city has recognized this and set aside some money to fund new ramps and possibly the creation of additional sites. For now though, kids will be pulling tricks and (hopefully) staying out of trouble at Wallace Emerson Community Centre, where ramps and boards are being set up for the season.

The World Cup trophy is in Canada for the first time ever. If you want to catch a glimpse of soccer's most valued statue you'll have to act quickly, as it's only at the CBC until tomorrow and given that Canada is ranked 63rd in the world (and has never even scored a goal in tournament play), it won't be back any time soon, if ever.
