This Week in Rep Cinema features second run and classic film selections from cinemas such as the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, The Fox, The Revue, The Royal, Toronto Underground Cinema, the Projection Booth, TIFF Bell Lightbox and more.

Variety is the spice of life and that's just what the rep cinemas look like this week. The final films in the Attack the Block and Bangkok Dangerous series end this week, with Golem appearing for one last time at the Lightbox and then Vampire's Kiss. Second-run programming just got kicked up a notch as the phenomenal Genie Award-winning film Monsieur Lazhar can be found at the Revue as well as this year's Academy Award Winner for Best Foreign Film, A Separation. Sports documentaries also feature heavily at the Bloor this week, with Hot Doc's favourite Fightville and the classic Ali doc, When We Were Kings.

TUESDAY APRIL 3 / ONLY YESTERDAY / TIFF BELL LIGHTBOX / 8:45PM
One of the more unusual Ghibli films, Only Yesterday is a realistic drama set in the 1980's featuring a Tokyo office worker, Taeko as she reminisces about her youth. As a child, all Taeko's school friends had families and farms to visit outside of the city but she never had the chance. During a vacation all her hopes and dreams come rushing back to her, challenging her current way of life in the city. While completely non-mystical and fantastical, the film still retains all of Ghibli's fascination with rural life. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the cinema.

WEDNESDAY APRIL 4 / BREAKING THE FRAME / ROYAL CINEMA / 7PM
If the titles Interior Scroll or Fuses mean anything to you, keep reading. Screening this week is Breaking the Frame, a documentary about the career of Carolee Schneemann, one of the most visible feminist avant-garde film/visual artists still kicking. The documentary features Schneemann's varied ouevre and features her own intimate recollections about her works. The film is playing as a special gala fundraiser for the Images Film Festival with tickets start at $15. Schneemann will be in attendance. Tickets can be purchased online.

THURSDAY APRIL 5 / POUSSIÈRES DE VILLE / NFB MEDIATHEQUE / 7:30PM
A documentary film maker follows a group of Congolese boys, aged roughly from seven to 19, as they spend their days scavenging from dumpsters to find enough food to cook and eat to make it to the next day. A startling portrayal of child poverty which is only more realized when the film visits upon the parents of these boys, some who are in no better shape than their AWOL sons. Tickets are $6 and can be purchased at the NFB Mediatheque.

SATURDAY APRIL 7 / VAMPIRE'S KISS / TIFF BELL LIGHTBOX / 10PM
The Nic Cage retrospective at the TIFF Bell Lightbox is coming to an end and they've saved the best for last. Vampire's Kiss is Nic Cage's crazy tour-de-force as a morally obtuse literary agent who is convinced that a passionate night with a mysterious woman has turned him into a vampire. Despite not burning into flame in the sunlight or having fangs, he doesn't let these setbacks fail him as he moans to his psychiatrist and barrels full tilt towards this vampirist life-style and possible destruction. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the cinema.

SUNDAY APRIL 8 / HARD CORE LOGO / TIFF BELL LIGHTBOX / 9:30PM
In honour of the upcoming release Hard Core Logo 2, Bruce McDonald's classic faux-documentary about a reunion tour for a group of harder-than-life punk stars is returning for a spin around the Lightbox with a shiny new print. The film features the animosity and power struggle between front-man Joe Dick and heavily charismatic guitarist Billy Tallent as the former hates the fact that the latter has now struck the big time with a new band. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the cinema.
