Jessica Simpson The Bay

This Week in Fashion: Simpson sisters at The Bay, UPC Boutique closing, H&M's new collaboration, Diepo at Robber, shop local at Miracle Thieves

This Saturday: The Bay Queen St. hosts a fashion meet-and-greet with Jessica and Ashlee Simpson
On December 3, the Simpson sisters touch down at The Bay's flagship store to help launch the new Jessica Simpson Girls apparel line. Starting at 1 p.m. in The White Space on the third floor, Jessica and sister Ashlee - who also serves as co-creative director of the latest addition to a billion-dollar empire - will sign autographs and take photos and all that other stuff you could expect from a thing like this. Go early - you know how tweens love their icons.

Emerging designers: TFI New Labels competition entry deadline December 6
The Toronto Fashion Incubator's annual competition for young designers is next week. Finalists will be selected for the May 3, 2012 runway show, and the winner will receive a $25,000 cash prize, a design studio at TFI headquarters for one year, and a feature in FLARE magazine. Here's the application.

UPC to close in February 2012 - massive, two-month-long sales ensue
Yorkville boutique UPC - a store I've mentioned here several times because I love it so much - has announced plans to close up shop early next year. I'm devastated, and maybe you should be too, but there's a silver lining: sales, sales, sales. From December 1 to 24, get 30% off select fall/winter 2011 pieces with a few "blow-out" bins and racks packed with other deals. On Boxing Day, enjoy an addition 50% off the lowest price of the best of the best. From January 1 to 31, haggle with the crew for a chance at bigger discounts each week until the very end. Be warned: everything is on a first come, first serve basis.

On Thursday (until Sunday): Robber hosts indie fash label diepo
On December 1, the girls behind young homegrown label Diepo will produce a holiday trunk pop-up at Robber on West Queen West from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m, - and you're invited to pop by. Look for sweet bargains on the fall/winter 2011 collection, and enjoy a chance at limited-edition sleep set created specifically for the shop. If you need them, other selling point(s): "sweet tunes and free beer." Can't make it? The deals run until Sunday. 863 Queen St. W.

ADD TO YOUR RADAR

H&M's next designer collaboration is with Italian label Marni. Still profiting from the success of recent collaborations with Versace and Lanvin, H&M has announced it will partner with print-legend label Marni next spring. Collections for men and women are set to hit stores on March 8, 2012.

Miracle Thieves is hosting a winter launch jam this Saturday. Starting at 7 p.m., you're invited to shop local, one-of-a-kind finds for the official launch of the holiday season. To get more information, check out this Facebook page.

Tomorrow: PERFECTO mag celebrates its first anniversary. Venture to Dundas West - into a crossfit gym - to celebrate the milestone in style. Bonus: proceeds from the bar will go to removing barriers to health for youth. Find out how to get on the list on Facebook.
