Intermix opens in Yorkville on Friday
Canada's answer to not-so-fast - and yet not-so-J.Crew - fashion is Intermix, the New York-based multi-designer retailer about to open its doors on Friday along the Bloor St. West, um, Mink Mile - that stretch from Yonge to Avenue. Long-anticipated by hidden gem (and, let's face it, bargain) hunters, the 2,200-square-foot boutique (not store) is the first international outing for the brand. When it opens, Intermix will feature hand-picked collections tailored to a Canadian audience, after much reflection on our online buying habits through its website, which will still ship to Canadians not in the 416. Although it sounds like it, Intermix is not-so-Winners, either. And why do we like it more? Because, for one, 30 per cent of their stock consists of exclusive items, which will include Canadian-designed labels like party dress piper BROSE and suiting newcomers Alex & Eli. Look for other high(er) priced pieces on the racks from Diane von Furstenberg, Helmut Lang, and Proenza Schouler. 130 Bloor St. W.

Meet Kelly Osbourne at The Bay Queen St. on August 30
Next Tuesday, Kelly Osbourne will make an appearance at the Bay flagship on Queen to promote the fall 2011 Material Girl Collection - you know, Madonna and her daughter's fash line. Carried exclusively at The Bay, you might actually buy something while you're there, with prices ranging from $12 to $68. Or maybe you just want to sit around with Kel and talk about Christina Aguilera? Anyway, there will be a public Q&A with the lady herself on the third floor, and music and photographers and other fun stuff. Promise. Arrive around 5 p.m. to secure a spot.

Victoria's Secret celebrates its Canadian anniversary with free makeovers at Yorkdale tomorrow and Friday
Celebrity makeup artist Julie Harris will be at Yorkdale Mall tomorrow and Friday to offer Victoria's Secret costumers the chance at a makeover proper - or, at the very least, a fresh face. You're in good hands. Canadian gal Harris has worked with non-model babes like Anne Hathaway and Rachel McAdams, and will also offer up tips and brief one-on-ones with pointers on getting that Angel glow. Oh, and it's free! Book an appointment in advance by calling 1-800-667-7079. There are also first-come, first-served appointments from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. if you want to risk it.

A summer sale of pop-up proportions
The ladies behind local label loving RAC Boutique and handbag crafter Jenny Bird are teaming for a "blow-out" sale to unofficially end the summer's string of pop-ups. With discounts up to 70 per cent off, look for labels like Tosca Delfino, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, and Sass & Bide alongside homegirls Ashley Rowe and Rita Liefhebber.
