Common Cloth

Is it common? Hardly! Common Cloth was my favourite addition to the spring 2007 show at L'OREAL Fashion Week. The clothes are feminine and masculine all at the same time, often practical, and definitely have a lot of sex appeal. This line definitely pushes the limits of what is Canadian cool.

Sisters Melanie Talbot and Kristina Bozzo are the driving force behind these dynamic designs. Melanie studied Marketing and Merchandising at the International Academy of Design and Kristina went to York University to study Mass Communications.

Inspired by dance, you can see the influence it has on their clothing. Their clothes remind me of a fusion of a whole bunch of the design greats like Prada and Dsquared. These girls are the ones to watch. The spring 2007 collection includes jump suits, retro prints, daring styles, and definitely has an attitude problem. And in case you are wondering: that's a good thing.

Common Cloth opened its flagship store in conjunction with Fashion Week at 1233 Queen Street West. The girls also have a line for men called Common Man and dog-friendly sportswear called Fetch.
