Last night VICE magazine had a launch party for the reintroduced adidas adicolor shoe. The adicolor concept originally hit retailers' shelves in 1983 and today it returns so that you too can graffiti up your shoe. The Pink Party was held at The Kamala Yoga Studio on Queen Street. While the doors were technically open at 8:00pm as advertised, guests were kept outside until around 9:00pm.

The wait was frustrating but it was worth it to see the new adicolor shoe range on display along with some of the new zip-ups. The zip-ups are made from light-weight materials, some of which have faux graffiti, emitting a strong street vibe feel to the shoes and shirts. The collection has an underground urban feel to it that is lightened up by childhood TV characters like Kermit the Frog, Mr. Happy, Betty Boop, and Miss Piggy. The adicolor series has shoe lines available in red, blue, yellow, green, pink, black and, of course, the traditional white.

The theme of the party was pink, and the yoga studio was decorated with pink lights, projectors and a cotton candy machine. Musical guests at the launch were Saillboats are White and the Tokyo Police Club with DJ Shit La Merde and Master Amazing kicking it out to the massive crowd. The atmosphere in the place was great and almost everyone was totally decked out in adidas gear. VICE gave away promotional tee-shirts, which Niall McClelland graffitied up for me.
