Wood Floral Lamp

I was going through my daily read of various design blogs and my eye kept being drawn to this particular piece of work.

Living in an apartment downtown, I am always looking for something with an organic feel to add to my general decor. There is the hard part of finding a happy medium between two people's different tastes. My husband tends to lean toward clean, simple lines of metal and wood, while I tend to like bright colours, reinvented antique that is slightly shabby and feminine. This lamp is a perfect compromise.

I love the use of wood in such an unconventional manner. There is something so modern with a slight hint of the Arts and Crafts movement to the design.

To my absolute delight, not only is it available in Canada, it is part of a wonderful collaboration of Toronto artists called Vest Collective. Everyone's work is so interesting and I love that a variety of mediums are used.

Their latest project called Come Up To My Room was hosted at the Gladstone Hotel. You can also view their collection at Koma Furniture Gallery at 1239 Queen St West. The show at Koma Gallery ends on May 16. I can't wait to see what other goodies these artists have to offer.
