Toronto restrooms take silver and bronze in Canada-wide competition

Foiled again--and by Burnaby, no less!

Toronto lavs have won second and third place in Canada's Best Restroom Competition.

King Street's Spice Route came in second for its ritzy restroom, which the competition organizers described as having "eclectic Asian dĂŠcor, exposed stone walls and rich coloured tiles."

Mildred's Temple Kitchen took third for its "hand-painted murals, designer fixtures, slate floor and slate walls." Classy, indeed.

Burnaby's Cactus Club CafĂŠ beat them both, however, to win first prize and national glory. Its facilities were exalted for its padded furniture, televisions and Solus Concrete wall tiles.

Now, if cleanliness and hygiene were the deciding factors, perhaps Toronto's self-cleaning pay toilet would have taken the prize. That thing has remained "spic and span" since its unveiling. And it has an automatic Star Trek door. Take that, Burnaby.
