Toronto dominates CAA's list of worst roads in the province

The CAA launched its worst roads in Ontario campaign yesterday calling on drivers to vote for the routes that give them the most pothole-induced headaches. And though it's still early in the voting process, Toronto streets already dominate the list: of the 20 nominated so far, 14 can be found right here in our fair city.

The top three vote-getters so far are also located close to home, with Dufferin St., Lawrence Ave. and Finch Ave. occupying the early "lead." Steeles Ave., which has received the most votes the last three years running, has dropped back to 12th position. This, no doubt, is the result of $15 million of road work undertaken on the heavily trafficked route.

Although the list is driver-oriented, a number of streets that have been nominated are also nasty for cyclists. And given that the criteria upon which roads are voted for is up to the individual voter, cyclists need not necessarily feel left out of the process. My cyclist-oriented list of last year sees at least a few double ups so far.

So what roads would you nominate from Toronto? Are there hidden nightmares that have yet to be mentioned?

Here's the CAA's list of worst roads in Ontario as of 10:30 a.m. on August 13, 2010.
