Your morning news roundup for Friday, April 4th, 2008:

Start digging! Our world-renown underground pedestrian city PATH won't be able to keep up with planned development to the downtown core, so Toronto planners are looking to build another underground tunnel from Union Station going north.

Finding money to dig the tunnel might be a bit difficult, especially since it looks like Ontario's on the brink of a recession, according to RBC chief economist Craig Wright.

Not everybody's pinching pennies in the city though: Jose Lima at O Nosso Talho butcher shop gave away 22,680 kilograms of chicken legs to keep a promise he made that if he ever won the lottery, he'd "bring the whole of Toronto chicken legs."

The Emergency Task Force had to be called in to an apartment building at College and Ossington early this morning to apprehend a robbery suspect who refused to give in despite being tasered three times.

And while the ETF was using their expensive tasers on a suspect, a Flesherton teenager was selling his own homemade stun gun to a friend; he learned how to build the device by simply searching on Google and following the instructions on a webpage. The number one result for "how to build a taser" is actually hosted by the University of Guelph.
