urbanNOISE is Looking for Your Submissions
Last year's urbanNOISE festival, celebrating the talent of urban artists in Rexdale and Jamestown, was a massive success. This year, Expect Theatre and Arts Etobicoke want you to be a part of the festival, taking place at North Kipling Community Centre on June 29 and 30.
For those of you that didn't get a chance to check it out last year, urbanNOISE brings together young people from across the Toronto's northwest in a celebration of song, dance, and art, and making noise against violence in the city. Young DJs, poets, dancers, artists, photographers, performers, singers and emcees from Rexdale are all encouraged to submit samples of their work for inclusion in this year's festival.
Artists are invited to submit a sample of their work in support of "nonviolence and urban peace" for consideration in this two-day event. Suggestions include themes promoting nonviolence, transformation, healing, empowerment, compassion, and forgiveness.
Selected artists will be awarded an honourarium.
To submit work for consideration, entries must include:
- A short biographical piece about the artist,
- a music or video recording where applicable,
- a website where applicable,
- relevant links (YouTube, MySpace, etc.)where applicable,
- mailing address,
- daytime phone number,
- email address, and
- a self-addressed stamped envelope for returning submissions.
