The Future of Downsview Park

Earlier this week, I attended a meeting at DOWNSVIEW PARK about the future development of the nearly 600 acres of land.

Construction began in September for the first phase. Seems kinda cool -- there's going to be a huge forest on the land the size of 22 soccer fields and in April, seedlings will be planted. In the forest is going to be a lake that you will be able to sit by (but not swim in). In other parts of the park, a sports complex will be built along with a lot of houses. The developers want the area to have more of an urban recreational rather than stretches of the Allen.

Imagine if they brought something like this downtown...
